Why we built ScienceStar

Science is one of the most important subjects in Singapore's primary school curriculum — yet many families struggle to find high-quality, engaging revision resources that their children actually want to use.

We noticed that most revision apps are either too expensive, require subscriptions, or are simply not engaging enough to hold a child's attention. We wanted to change that.

ScienceStar was built specifically aligned to the 2026 MOE PSLE Science syllabus. Our goal is simple: make science revision fun, comprehensive, and accessible to every student — regardless of background or financial means.

Nowsath Rifaya M

Master of Science (Physics) · Published Researcher

ScienceStar was created by Nowsath Rifaya, a physics graduate with a Master's degree and a background in scientific research. Nowsath built this platform out of a genuine passion for science and a desire to make high-quality, accessible science education available to every child in Singapore — completely free.

With a deep understanding of scientific principles and how they are best communicated, Nowsath personally researched, wrote, and structured every topic, quiz, and study note on this site to be accurate, clear, and engaging for primary school learners.

Note: ScienceStar is an independent educational resource. The content is based on scientific expertise and thorough research of the MOE syllabus. Nowsath did not study under the Singapore MOE system, but has studied the curriculum extensively to ensure all content is accurate and fully aligned.

💡 Why ScienceStar Exists

My son scored AL1 in PSLE Science — without a single tuition class

When my son Irfaan sat for his PSLE Science, he didn't go to any tuition centre. He studied using structured notes, active quizzing, and consistent revision — and he achieved AL1, the highest grade.

That result taught me something important: you don't need expensive tuition to do well in Science. What you need is the right material, organised the right way, with the ability to test yourself — immediately, repeatedly, without friction.

That is exactly what ScienceStar is. Every quiz, every flashcard, every study note on this platform exists because I want every child in Singapore to have the same opportunity Irfaan had — regardless of whether their family can afford tuition. Science can be mastered for free.

What we stand for

Free for Everyone

We firmly believe that quality education should not be gated behind a subscription or price tag. ScienceStar will always be free for students to use. The website is supported by advertising, not student fees.

Syllabus Accuracy

Every question, flashcard and study note is carefully aligned to the official 2026 SEAB PSLE Science syllabus. We review and update our content regularly to ensure accuracy and relevance.

Learning Through Fun

Children learn best when they are engaged. Our XP system, streak tracking, confetti celebrations and fun science facts are all designed to make revision feel like a game, not a chore.

Privacy First

We never collect personal data from children. No registration required. All progress (XP, scores, streaks) is stored locally on your device. We take children's online safety extremely seriously.

Offline Access

We know that internet access isn't always available — on the MRT, in the car, or in areas with poor connectivity. ScienceStar is designed as a Progressive Web App (PWA) that works fully offline once loaded.

Continuously Improving

We regularly add new questions, improve study notes, and refine the app based on feedback from students and parents. Have a suggestion? We genuinely want to hear from you!
